You can start your art and pottery crawl across the street at Granny Hollow Pottery where Danny and Denise Beachum have an on-site pottery studio and display their works in their gift shop (Fancy Crafts).  They have a special room dedicated to local pottery (their own pottery and other local/regional potters) and art by local artists (members of AnsonArtLeague.com).  They also specialize in North Carolina and US made handcrafted gifts, collectibles and accessories.  Custom framing is also available.

A few doors down is Lord George Anson Antiques specializing in southern antiques and collectibles.  Also check out the gifts. home accessories and floral designs from Michael Horne Florist across the street.

Within walking distance is the art gallery of the Anson County Arts Council where art and crafts created by local artists are on display and for sale.  Next door is the Ansonia Theatre, an old vaudeville theatre, now open as a community theater.

Also in Uptown Wadesboro is Price's Place, in an old printing company location; it's now packed with antiques, collectibles and pottery (both old pottery plus new pottery by James price, a local potter.)

Right next door to Price's Place, you can stop for lunch at The Malsgate restaurant, a locally owned restaurant and full bar.

Across Highway 74 at South Piedmont Community College in an old converted textile mill, is the Olde Mill Gallery specializing in works of art including oils, watercolors, mixed media, pottery, photography, folk art and jewelry by local and regional artists.

After exploring Wadesboro, travel north on Highway 109 to Mt. Gilead where you'll find two interesting antique stores - Mt. Gilead Antique Mall and The Vintage - in downtown Mt. Gilead.

You continue north on 109 into Troy and visit a wonderful art gallery called ARTifex run by Beverly & Chad Dickson.  Located in the old Troy Hotel, it features old wood display cabinets, artfully filled with local and regional art (including watercolors, oils, pottery, jewelry, mixed media, photography, etc.).

Take Highway 73 out of Mt. Gilead (or 24/27 out of Troy) and head to Albemarle for a visit to the Falling Rivers Gallery in downtown Albemarle featuring many handcrafted works by local artists - pottery, stained glass, watercolors, oils, bronzes, metal art, wood, textiles, sculptures and more - run by the Stanly Arts Guild.

There's a large antique mall - The Albemarle Marketplace - full of antiques, collectibles and home accents (also open on Sunday afternoons). [See our Day Trips pages for recommended restaurants during your travels.]
